Penrith is a large town acting as a regional centre for the eastern Lake District. Not too far from National Park. Its position makes for a strategic stop over to and from Scotland. Penrith was once the capital of Cumbria. An attractive town and the hub of the Eden Valley. There is a good mix traditional pubs and more recently sophisticated pub restaurants. Bed and breakfast accommodation is plentiful and the standards most acceptable which shouldn't surprise you as this is one of the UK's most visited places.
